2014 Premier Partner Agency

EMC insurance Companies recognized its 2014 highest- performing agency partners throughout the country by designating them as EMC Premier Partners. This achievement is based on indicators such as customer retention, profitability and growth over a three-year period.

2012 Gold Award



Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, March 8, 2013

United Way of Isabella County is pleased to recognize the employees of The General Agency with the 2012 Gold Award for their continued support through a successful Employee Workplace Campaign. This year's fund drive raised more than $2,000 through employee contributions. General Agency employees have contributed more than $12,500 to local charities through United Way since 2004. Employee Workplace Campaign awards are based on the amount raised, the number of donors and the average employee gift. The Gold Award is presented to companies that achieve growth in all three categories over the previous campaign.
The General Agency's 2012 Employee Workplace Campaign, coordinated by Bonnie Hayward, raised an impressive $2,318, an increase over the previous year. A total of 21 employees contributed to the 2012 Campaign, representing an increase in overall participation and an increase in the average employee gift over last year.

5-Star Organization



Fremont insurance, a Michigan-exclusive property and casualty insurance carrier, has designated the General Agency of Mt. Pleasant as one of the company's 5-Star Organizations.
"This agency routinely demonstrates the attributes required to produce consistent success in a highly competitive and challenging business environment and industry. Meeting the changing needs of their clients by offering value added insurance solutions is one of the many qualities that separates this agency from the rest." Fremont insurance Company President and CEO Steve Monahan said in a press release.
Each year, Fremont insurance honors insurance agencies that maintain the highest business standards and performance. The award recognizes agencies that have achieved long-term success in operating a profitable and growing business. The company said that while business expertise is an important part of the criteria, customer satisfaction and community contributions are also central to this award.

Changing the Face of Volunteering



Employees of General Agency, a company providing insurance coverage to central Michigan, has adopted two volunteer shifts at Central Michigan Community Hospital and work together as a team to fill the positions weekly.

CSR of the Year



Julie McNeal, CISR, of General Agency Company in Mt. Pleasant, was Michigan's 2013 CSR of the Year. Darelle White, CIC, CPCU, Senior Academic Director of The National Alliance, presented the award.

$25,000 Awarded to Woodland Hospice



Four nonprofit organizations have been selected to receive $25,000 from the EMC insurance Foundation in the final phase of the 100 Ways of Giving program sponsored by EMC insurance Companies. In total, EMC is giving away $200,000 through the program, in celebration of the company's 100-year anniversary.
One of those four nonprofit organizations receiving $25,000 each are Woodland Hospice of Mt. Pleasant, Mich., nominated by General Agency Company in Mt. Pleasant, Mich.
Woodland Hospice provides comfort, dignity and peace of mind by providing physical, emotional and spiritual care for families facing the terminal illness of a loved one. Hospice emphasizes comfort rather than cures, so patients and their families may live their remaining time together to the fullest and according to their wishes. The hospice serves six counties in central Michigan.


Isabella Community Soup Kitchen Receives Donation



On May 25, 2010, General Agency Company employees Bonnie Hayward and Cindy Zuker along with Hasting Mutual insurance Company representatives Barbara Steele and Martha Racine presented the Isabella County Soup Kitchen Director Genny Sobaski a check for $3,000. Hastings Mutual insurance Company matched the $1,500 Jean Day donations from the employees of the General Agency Company. Each year the General Agency Company's employees supports a local charity by donating money collected each month through their Jean Day community support program.

Agency of the Month



The General Agency Company knows that providing great customer service isn't an end in itself—it's a means to building customer loyalty. President's Club Award 2004-2009



The General Agency Receives Accident Fund insurance Company of America, President's Club Award 2004-2009.
The Accident Fund insurance Company of America President's Award is presented annually to a select number of independent insurance agencies that work with Accident Fund and its subsidiaries. The General Agency Company was evaluated on performance based on volume and profitability goals for the previous year and received the award consistently between 2004-2009. Only about 3 percent of the nearly 800 independent agencies eligible were recognized as 2008 President's Club winners.


2007 Agency of the Year



Lansing, Michigan based Accident Fund insurance Company of America recently announced that General Agency Company of Mt. Pleasant, Mich., was given the 2007 Agency of the Year award. General Agency was presented with the award by Al Gileczek, Accident Fund's vice president of Regional Operations, at a company-wide meeting in late January.
"Accident Fund works with many excellent agent partners, and the General Agency stands out because of their long-time commitment to building success with our organization," Gileczek said. "The company shares our philosophy of service and quality. Their results over the past five years demonstrate their dedication to our partnership, and the reason why they deserve the distinction of being our Agency of the Year."
The Agency of the Year award is awarded for consistent, outstanding results over multiple years, based on production, profitability and growth goals.
Established in 1915, The General Agency is one of Central Michigan's oldest continuous businesses. It provides both standard and specialty insurance coverages.
